As an authorised stockist of Naturstueen newborn dummies, we are regularly asked a series of questions. We have compiled all the answers and written a comprehensive blog. However, if there is something we haven’t covered please contact us and we will add it to the blog.
Why is the Natursutten Dummy so good?
The Natursutten natural dummies have been made into one single piece, therefore, they are more hygienic than most pacifiers. This is because there are no joints for bacteria and dirt to get lodged into.
A standard pacifier usually has a gap where the shield and nipple come together. This is one of the areas where bacteria and dirt can build up which makes it hard to clean.
In addition, the Natursutten pacifiers are made without allergy-causing substance, artificial colours, chemical softeners and hormone disturbing substances. This is because they are made with 100% natural rubber which is better for you, your baby and the environment.
Are natural rubber soothers safe?
The Natursutten range is regularly tested by ConsumerLab in Denmark and is certified to EN-1400. This is a European Union directive for this product for safety, health and environment.
The products are tested in the United States and comply with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. They also comply with Australian, New Zealand and Japanese standards.
Materials used in the natural rubber dummy
The Naturutten natural rubber pacifier is made from 100% pure natural rubber. They are made from liquid rubber milk from the Hevea tree located in Malaysia.
The trees are en eco-friendly sustainable source of rubber and are produced from a seed which is grown for approximately 18 months. The seeds are then planted on a plantation where they are left for 7 years before the white sap latex is collected. This is done by tapping the tree every second day and then alternating sides. The sap is then transported to Italy where it is made into the natural rubber dummy in a family-run facility.
There are two styles of the Natursutten dummies, these being the original and butterfly types.
The original style natural rubber dummy closely simulates breastfeeding as it gently touches the babies nose. We try to maintain stock of the rounded and orthodontic natural rubber dummies in all three sizes of the original style.
There will be times when we are in short supply or out of stock. In the past, it has been difficult to buy the Natursutten natural dummies in Australia however we do our best to maintain stock holdings of the original style dummy.
The Butterfly style dummy has a cutout that leaves space for the babies nose. Unfortunately, due to the low demand of the butterfly style, we are unable to keep this in stock.
Natursutten Rounded v’s Orthodontic
Our most asked question is which of the two styles of natural rubber soother should we purchase. The difference between the two is that the round and orthodontic soother’s nipple are different shapes.
Which soother is better for you will be determined how your baby takes to it. Some babies will prefer the rounded shape while others have a preference to the orthodontic nipple. They may need to try both to see which they prefer.
Sizes of the original rubber dummy
We offer three sizes which are the small, medium and large in both the round and orthodontic style. The small pacifier is designed for newborn babies through to 6 months. The medium baby soother is for ages from six months through to one year while the larger dummies are for babies over twelve months.
Packaging of baby soother
The packaging in Australia uses soy ink in delicate colours to identify the styles of newborn dummies. The rounded dummy comes in a mint green box while the orthodontic dummy is in a purple box. It is important that there is no wastage so the Manufacturers minimise the use of the packaging as much as possible.
Each of the pacifiers has an animal picture on the packaging for you to quickly and easily identify the style and size of the baby soother.
We love the Natursutten brand as they are an environmentally friendly company. Their designs and manufacturing are sustainable and aim to create zero waste. They aim to use 100% renewable energy and reduce their carbon footprint. Even the window on the packaging is made from corn.
How do you sterilize natural rubber pacifier?
Before the first use sterilise by immersing in copious amounts of boiling water. This should be for five minutes ensuring that it does not touch the bottom of the pot. Remove from boiling water and let it cool down. Do not let it cool in the boiling water. Please read the information provided with the rubber soother prior to use.
How do you clean a rubber pacifier?
They should be cleaned daily using a mild liquid soap while being run underwater. The pacifier should not be boiled again nor be put in a steriliser or dishwashers.
Ongoing care of the pacifier
The pacifier can get a little sticky if used for a prolonged time. It may also become darker in colour. They will need to be replaced every 6 to 8 weeks and should be inspected prior to each use. Replaced immediately if there are signs of peeling and for further details and safe use read the instructions on the inside of the box.
