Newborn Bibs

My Little Love Heart has been handmaking newborn baby bibs for over 10 years. Our unique designs, coupled with high quality materials and craftsmanship make them the a must have for any new parent.

Our newborn style bib has two adjustable fasteners on the side of the arm, rather than the back behind the babies neck. This enables you to put on, or remove with ease while feeding.

In addition to the fastening system, we use high quality materials. These have been chosen for their absorbent properties to capture as much drool and milk as possible.

Each bib is handmade in Australia and is inspected for quality while being created. The quality of workmanship is second to none, with Luisa having been in the fashion industry for over 20 years.

Benefits of our newborn bibs

Our baby bibs are highly regarded and provide many benefits over others. This includes;

  • Two Layers – We use two layers of fabric. This keeps the drool from seeping through to the babies clothing.
  • Materials – The materials we use are highly absorbent. The first layer is made from cotton while the second is a thick cotton and bamboo mix. The bamboo layer is used on the back and a similar to terry towelling. It is a materials that is perfect for wiping away the drool and is soft on the babies skin. Both layers are made from sustainable and eco-friendly materials.
  • Adjustable — Each bib has two adjustable fasteners, so you can adjust to fit your growing baby. And are located on the arm of the bib so it can be fastened easily.
  • Stylish — We are constantly updating our prints to stay on trend and helping your baby look their best. We have a large selection of colours and designs to choose from including gender neutral, boys, and girls prints, as well as plain solid colours.
What to look for in a Baby Bib

When selecting a bib for a newborn there are a few things to consider. These include;

  • Multi Layer – The bib should have 2 layers, this way the drool can seep through the first layer but won’t go through the second.
  • Absorbent Materials – The bib you choose will be made of cotton, terry or bamboo as these are absorbent materials. Avoid plastic bibs as drool will slide off and onto the babies clothes and skin.
  • Adjustable Fasteners – Ensure that the bib has at least two fasteners so the size of the bib can be increased as the baby grows. Avoid Velcro fastening systems as these loose there stickiness and are easier for an older baby to pull off.
  • Stylish – You want a bib that will compliment your babies outfit and look good. This way you will get lots of use out of it.
Types of Bibs

There a large variety of bibs available, with the main ones being newborn, bandana, and toddler styles.

The newborn is ideal for new babies. While the bandana style is perfect for teething babies and heavy droolers. It’s also good for colder climates as it protects the neck more than any other style. And the main other style is the toddler type of bib. This has a large front and is ideal for messy eaters. So we recommend choosing the correct bib for the appropriate purpose.

Which one is best

Our newborn bibs are ideal for new parents. As many mums breastfeed, having the fasteners on the side of the neck rather than the back gives you easier access to put on and remove.

Each bib has two adjustable fasteners so you can increase or decrease the size to fit your infant.

And the newborn bib style is smaller in size, ensuring that they are big enough to cover the babies clothes yet not too big to get in the way.

When deciding what is the best option consider;

  • Age – Choose a bib that is suitable for their age. Most bibs are suitable for newborns.
  • Neck Size – Your baby might have a larger neck so opt for a bigger bib size, or alternatively a premature baby may want to use a smaller bib.
  • Preferred Style – Some people prefer a certain style, they might like the larger big as it provides a bigger coverage of the babies clothing.
  • Use – Consider what you will be using the bib for. If it’s drooling you may want to select the bandana style, while the smaller bib is ideal for breastfeeding.
Age Range

Our newborn bib is suitable from birth through to 1 year.

Sizing

As these are made by hand the dimensions can vary slightly, however in general they measure 45cm long x 22cm (widest part).

Care and Maintenance

These are easy to maintain and can be placed in your daily wash with similar colours. They can be machine or cloths line-dried. But do not bleach or dry clean.

Safety

As a bib is worn around a baby’s neck it should be inspected before every use. Check that the fasteners are working properly and there are no loose threads. Never leave your baby unattended when they are wearing a bib. And a baby should never sleep with them on.
