In this article we discuss when babies should start and stop using bibs.
Do newborns need bibs?
Newborns are defined as under three months old and it’s fine for babies to wear bibs at this age. But make sure they are worn under adult supervision. Whether your baby will need a bib depends on how much they drool, however you will find that most babies will in fact need one.
When do babies start wearing bibs?
Babies can wear bibs as soon as they are born, however most people wait till the baby is at least one week old. There are many types of bibs available it’s hard to know which is the best to choose. Some are designed specifically for a new baby like our smaller bib. This has snap fasteners on the side so you can remove the bib easily after feeding.
Other types of bibs can be used later on, for instance our dribble bibs are ideal for a teething baby and will benefit from this style of bib from 3 the 3 month mark. This bib is very absorbent and perfect to keep a drooling baby dry.
When do babies stop wearing bibs?
By 2 years old a baby has started to create less mess so you shouldn’t need bibs anymore. But every baby is different and if they like wearing them, or are a messy eater they don’t have to stop wearing them, as long as it still fits. At this age we find our larger toddler bib is the best style to use as it covers more of the baby’s clothes.
